June 2018 – a month of sunshine, adventures and ice lollies.

I have just been thinking about everything I did during June, and I can honestly say I’ve had a really lovely month. Despite a little bit of work anxiety, the rest of the time was spent doing very lovely things, and so I thought I would do a little June recap.

I kick started June with a sunny Saturday walk around the outskirts of Cardiff. We popped to a farmers market, climbed into trees and sat on benches basking in the glorious British weather.

The following day I made a very bad outfit choice (of jeans) on what was a really warm day. We popped to McArthur Glen in Bridgend where I got a lovely Vans t-shirt and then we went and sat at the Knap in Barry. It was a really warm day and I wished I’d worn something swishy and sandals so I could have headed onto the beach, but instead we sat on the wall and looked over the sand and sea and watched the planes flying in and out of Cardiff airport.

While we were in Bridgend I tried on a pair of Reebok trainers, I really liked the pink ones but they didn’t have them in my size (boo). My lovely hubby had a little look online and found the pink version on the Reebok website in my size and ordered them for me.

I love these and they are so comfy. They will be perfect for our other summer plans.

The Friday of that week I had my shoulder tattoo finished. This tattoo has been a weight loss treat to myself (even though I’m not yet at target) and I am so pleased with it. Especially now it’s finished. The photo below is on the day it was finished. It is now all healed and looking lovely.

That weekend I had a wardrobe declutter and got rid of a lot of my old clothes (especially the stuff that I would usually wear to work, since we will be getting a uniform in July). I popped a lot of stuff up for sale on some Facebook selling groups and had some interest in some of the bits.

We also had a little afternoon Sunday adventure of a walk in the woods. Another Sunday where I was not appropriately dressed, this time because I wore a summer dress and sandals and we ended up walking. Will I ever learn hehe.

We had our last ever MHS curry night before the merger. It was a really lovely evening with all of my fabulous work colleagues. It marked the end of an era, but also the start of very exciting new times.

On my way home the following day I was lucky enough to see a steam engine at Hereford train station. Not something you get to see every day.

I had a little bit of an impromptu long weekend the following week, having taking the Friday off as hours in lieu and spending it with my lovely little sister. Considering it was very last minute and unplanned, I had a really lovely day.

Saturday marked the day of Ed’s cycling event in Abergavenny and while he was off riding in the glorious sunshine, I took myself off for a wander around Abergavenny. I looked in all the charity shops and boutiques before sitting in the sunshine to watch Ed’s sprint finish (very proud wife moment). At the end of the day we went for a little wander at the top of a mountain. I was brave and bared my very pasty white legs.

Sunday was a sunny stroll around Monmouth, including a little trip to Monmouth Castle (I didn’t even know they had a Castle). It was a very chilled Sunday, but also very lovely!

The last week of June was a little less eventful. I read a Lovely booked called Eleanor Olliphant is completely fine (I would highly recommend this), I saw a tiny baby hedgehog snuffling through the grass and we had a BBQ from our little bucket BBQ.

All in all June has been really lovely. There has been nothing overly exciting, but it has all been perfect and if July is anything like June I will be a happy lady!

Obviously the lovely weather has helped, but I’m sure if it hadn’t been sunny I would have still had a lovely time, just without sunglasses and bared white legs.

I hope you have all had a wonderful June too. Let me know what adventures you have been on.
